CDOT to replace culvert on US 285 north of Monte Vista
Work to begin on Monday, March 29
RIO GRANDE COUNTY ― The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform the repair of an aged culvert on US Highway 285 just north of Monte Vista. The exact location of the US 285 project is at MP 52.3 approximately one mile north of the US 160 and US 285 intersection. The old 18-inch corrugated metal pipe culvert will be replaced with an improved 24-inch reinforced concrete pipe. The work, scheduled to begin next Monday, March 29, will take place for the entire week, through Friday, April 2.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Two lanes of traffic (northbound and southbound) will be maintained throughout the duration of the project, however motorists will encounter lane shifts. Travelers will also encounter a speed reduction of 40 MPH through the work zone. Please slow down, watch for workers, be aware of heavy equipment, and use extreme caution in the area. CDOT encourages wide loads to find an alternate route.
